This game is simple, but it is incredibly fun.. I really like the game, and I think that it is a very good game if you like destruction engines, but the camera was very glitchy, and whenever you move the camera while near a wall the entire screen would go completely crazy. If this bug is fixed I think that it could be a incredible game that is extremely fun to play. While my time is limited on this game, its due to that fact that an update bug with windows 10 and Steam have caused it so and I can no longer play the game! However I will say that what i did see and tried was fun none the less. I will figure out the issues that I am having and will get back to playing this game as it was trully a Great concept and experience.. Absolutely amazing! I didn't think it was possible to make something like this yet. It's worth the money already.. Boo I cant open the game plz help. Clever game. The kid is creepy.. The incredibly gorgeous and well executed simulation asepct of this game is what initially drew me into the game but ive been left a bit dissapointed by what i played. i honestly am not sure if there is even a way to salvage the game in its current state simply by adding new levels or goal mechanics. The whole game is an excercise mainly in frustration as navigating the world as a physically simulated clay blob while impressive is rather lets say, imprecise, and i feel the addition of the rewind mechanic is only an admission of that. The game even if it controlled well wouldnt exactly be fun i think as the objectives are all tedious and thoughtless. Its all just finding shapes to bring to locations or destroying other shapes in a needlessly difficult way with your shape, or at best, routing some fluid to a location or two by clumsily carving a notch in something.None of the objectives require any thought, this is not a puzzle game by any stretch which i guess is what i had thought it might be based on everything i saw, like a physics puzzle type game where you have to think about how to accomplish a task. And in that right i think a more constructive gameplay style might have been better, like the crayon physics games where you create geometry to solve a physics puzzle. I can imagine expanding on a concept like that with all sorts of different physics tools to use with the addition of fluids and deformations at your disposal. But this is not what this game is or tries to be.And like i said, im not sure even adding more of these obejctive types would really bring the game up to any meaningful level of gameplay. I dont know how engaging you can really make moving clay around like this outside of a purely creative sandbox kind of way. I could also imagine a type of game in which using this engine you could have a full on adventure game in a clay world, though this would need to be done in the future as is evident in this game: the tech is limited in scope to a small play area as large open environments of such intensive and thorough simulation are not yet pheasable on modern consumer hardware. The game as it stands requires a relatively beefy systems to play anyway. The game does include an editor but its sad to say the editor is fairly non-intuitive and clunky as of writing this review and as such i couldnt even recommend this game really as a creative outlet. Maybe if you can push through the weirditudes of the editor you could find enjoyment as the game still is rather amazingly detailed and simulated. In the end i wish i could give this a more indifferent classification but i will leave it as a non recommendation as theres more negative than positive here in regards to gameplay. Alpha 0.2.0.25: New in this version:You can now directly choose a savegame instead of creating a server. Currently, only one savegame (with multiple characters) is supported. The option to create multiple savegames will be available as soon as mods are supported, to allow you to create different savegames with different mods.Server problems should be fixed now. In some rare cases, you may have to add the server IP if you want to play with friends on the local network.. Alpha 0.2.0.23: New in this version:Improved physics: You now slide on ice and are slower on sand and snow.Added walking sounds based on the ground typeFixed a bug that caused biome borders to differ on server and clientHopefully fixed a bug in the automatic server discovery on some systems (probably firewall/anti-virus related?)Fixed mouse wheel scrolling through action bar not working in some cases. Devlog #11: Time to say goodbye: Hi everyone! We want to give you the opportunity to play on servers hosted by us in the future, both official servers (no mods) and your own servers that can have mods. To make this possible, we need money, in other words, a monthly subscription or hosting fee, whatever you like to call it. You will still be able to host your own game server on your PC or a third-party server as well as play in singleplayer.Although it will take some time until we have set up everything to support official servers and server hosting, we need to consider the costs for that already. Unfortunately, this means we can't sell the game on Steam anymore because Valve would get a significant revenue share when you subscribe to our service. We have to set up our own infrastructure, which is a huge investment, so it is not affordable for us to pay a large chunk of our income to Valve because we want to offer this service as inexpensive as possible (for significantly less than most paid MMOs).We think that this step will be beneficial for the game because we can spend more money on the development by not paying xx% to Valve. While we get traffic on Steam that apparently should make the cut worth it, it's actually not that much and we will have to do a lot of marketing anyway. There are more reasons why we will leave Steam, but I don't want to talk about them here.If you have purchased the game on Steam, you will keep it and still get all updates via our launcher. If you want to purchase our game after its removal from Steam, it will be available on our website next year (2019), as soon as the next big update is out.Update: We have requested Valve to remove it after the Winter sale.. [PT] Alpha 0.2.1.3: Patch 0.2.1.3 is now available for testing on the public test version.Gameplay. Devlog #8: Pricing: Hello everyone! Today I'd like to talk about some decisions we had to make concerning pricing of the game.We had to find a way to increase sales to speed up the development because the current sales (and wishlist additions) were not high enough to meet our goal of a December 2019 release that we promised. We therefore considered some options:First of all, we could lower the price to increase the number of sold units. However, there are a lot of other cheap games on Steam and given that I alone invested something north of $250,000 (*1) worth of work into making this game already, I simply could not give it away for less than the current price of $8.99 (with the exception of discounts of course). So the second option was to increase the price. We requested Valve to set it to $24.99, hoping this will make the game stand out a little bit more from all the other voxel games since we use a custom-made engine with very sophisticated optimizations to support orders of magnitude more blocks visible at the same time compared to other games. To be exact, it is something between 32x and 128x as many, depending on how exactly you compare it (*2). This is one thing that you will most likely not find in any other game because there are not that many people who could do these optimizations (mainly people who write graphics engines) and of those, probably no one will invest thousands of hours to make a game like this because they got a job that likely comes with a six-figure salary. We know that the price increase is quite high, and as much as we would love to sell it to you for less than that, our top priority is developing the game so you enjoy it for many, many hours and we hope that this step helps us achieving that goal.We also got feedback from friends who told us that they ignore games under $10, simply because there are a lot of bad or small games in that price range. We want people to know that this is not a small game and we will not rest until all the features mentioned in the description are implemented. In fact, we want to develop this game to a point where we can raise the price to $45 or more because you will spend hundreds of hours filled with fun and excitement in the game.Footnotes:Based upon the number of hours it took to develop the game and a reasonable salary in Germany.512m render distance with 250m sea level compared to Minecraft with 256m render distance and 64m sea level gives 4x the number of blocks in X- and Z-direction and about 8x the number of blocks in Y-direction, for a total of 4*4*8 = 128x the number of blocks.. [PT] Alpha 0.2.1.1: Patch 0.2.1.1 is now available for testing on the public test version.Main features. Devlog #5: What's next?: Hi everyone! I just want to let you know that I'm working on some more major updates and therefore there will be less frequent updates in the near future. But now, let's talk about the plans for the next months and what needs to be done in order to implement them:Animations. Devlog #13: Villages & more: We have updated our website, which now has a news section (comments, forum, etc. coming soon). You can find our newest Devlog here: Devlog #13: Villages & more[www.beosar.com]--------------------------------------We have had some problems with sending emails to Gmail users. If you have created an account on our website and not received an email, please try again by logging in and requesting another email. Make sure to check your spam folder - the mails will likely end up there in the next couple of weeks until Google recognizes us as a legitimate sender.. Devlog #9: Let's talk business: Hi! I have some updates about the game's development.First, the good news: I have found some people willing to work on the game, including graphics designers, sound designers, and another programmer. Together, we will make the game great again. Yes, we can! More catchphrases! Now the bad news: As you may have noticed, recently the "More like this" section on Steam changed and now seems to show random popular games. I can't tell if that is a bug or intentional, but this may have some effect on small indie developers, including us. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share any details about that publicly, let's just say that it is obvious that the games get less visibility if they are less often displayed in that section.Anyway, that finally convinced me that it won't work this way. I can't just work full-time on the game and improve it and hope that it will magically attract enough players to fund the development. That's not how things work in this world. That doesn't mean that the game won't get updates, there are still other people working on the game and I will do the business stuff and work on the programming whenever there is time. But, for some limited amount of time, I will have to do freelancing, meaning I'll write code for other people and companies. Fortunately, I live in Germany, where I can actually earn quite much doing freelancing (about €100/hr), so I will do that and make some money to pay for game-related stuff (and for my cost of living), until the game gets better and more popular and this won't be necessary anymore. Or maybe I will continue this as a side gig, but my main goal is to make a great game for you to enjoy.I know, many of you are waiting for more updates and I'm sorry to say they will probably slow down a little bit (depending on how much paid work I have to do) over the next months, but over a longer period of time this will make the game better than would be possible by just working on it and not earning enough money to pay for everything. Ideally, you guys would just buy the game often enough and I would focus on it, but for that I would need to do marketing, which I can't really do because there are unfinished 3D models and no animations and I only recently found someone who can and will create them.
